Responsible for the identification of market requirements, new product definition and commercialization, and product line management and marketing for life sciences products (cells and other assay reagents) for use in a Drug Discovery/ADMET market area. Serves as the marketing representative on multi-functional product development teams. Develops revenue and expense budgets and regularly monitors performance to plan, and takes appropriate actions if results vary from expectations.

1. Responsible for developing and implementing annual North American marketing plans, including pricing, positioning and promotional strategies for product line. Develops promotional materials and programs including product literature, catalogues, web content, sales aids, direct mail, and advertising. In addition, E-commerce and web-based initiatives represent a major marketing communications vehicle for this business.
2. Develops annual revenue budget and has responsibility for achievement of budgeted sales and gross margins. Reviews sales trends quarterly and revises individual product unit and dollar forecasts as appropriate.
3. Prepares and submits new product proposals and serves on new product development teams. Provides competitive analysis and market assessment for new products. Provides input to ensure products meet customer needs and expectations during the development process. Implements new product launch plans including pricing, promotion, and sales training.
4. Conducts market research and competitive analysis to determine market segmentation, market share data, customer needs, and future market trends. Collects and communicates worldwide customer needs to internal organization (customer service, R&D, manufacturing, quality control, inventory control and shipping). Works directly with customers and field sales representatives to uncover and understand customer needs. Conducts periodic literature reviews to update knowledge of product applications.
5. Monitors product line for opportunities to maximize profitability. Evaluates current pricing versus competition and customers' perceptions. Evaluates low volume products and deletes products as appropriate. Solicits and evaluates ideas for cost improvements.
6. Provides direction to sales representatives including positioning, sales tactics, competitive comparisons, and product features and benefits. Develops and provides product and applications training material for North American sales representatives and international sales/marketing personnel. Prepares and delivers presentations at regional and national sales meetings.
7. Provides support to assist international marketing managers and NA sales managers in meeting their goals as required.
8. Works with R&D and/or operations to develop line extensions. Provides product specifications (customer expectations) and drives development process. Review product descriptions, technical specifications, labels, and application development plans.
9. Maintains knowledge of advances in life science disciplines. Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work.

Qualifications:
• In depth knowledge of life science discipline.
• Proven marketing skills to predict market trends and accurately forecast product sales.
• Familiarity with research product reagents or similar market.
• Familiarity with FDA/GMP as pertains to product design and record keeping with regards to medical products.
• Familiarity with preparation of expense budgets.
• Practical knowledge of project management tools and principles of team leadership.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, to include training and presentation skills.
• Effective organization and planning skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with other professionals, customers, other BD divisions, associates at all levels.
• Effective analytical, technical and problem solving skills.
• Computer literacy required; i.e. PC software.
• BA/BS in a life sciences discipline is required; MBA or equivalent business experience a plus. Minimum of 5 to 8 years experience in Marketing/Product Management, preferably in the research products market.
