Position Description:
The Synthetic Chemist will work on pharmaceutical development projects at Infinity Pharmaceuticals in support of Infinity's product portfolio. The ideal candidate will utilize experience and knowledge of current synthetic techniques and be able to work in a fast paced multidisciplinary environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to utilize their synthetic chemistry talents to work cross functionally with chemistry, biology, pharmacology, metabolism, formulation, and regulatory colleagues in all aspects from lead candidate selection to NDA filing.

Responsibilities include:
• Participate in the identification, synthesis, and characterization of metabolites
• Participate in the identification, synthesis, and characterization of raw material, intermediate, API, and drug product impurities and degradants
• Work with Contract Manufacturing Organizations in the optimization of drug substance manufacturing routes and analytical characterization
• Synthesis of biological probes for biochemical and cellular assays
• Radiochemical synthesis and characterization
• Participate in the development of drug product formulations for parenteral, oral, topical, and aerosol routes
• Develop formulations to support in-vivo pharmacology and clinical programs
• Oversee and coordinate the transfer of drug substance/product manufacturing processes to Contract Manufacturing Organizations
• Work collaboratively with regulatory department to maintain regulatory documentation of clinical drug candidates
• Work collaboratively in team environment with Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, DMPK, Quality and Regulatory Affairs departments, individual chemists and project teams as needed to support metabolism, formulation and process development activities

Requirements:
Experience and skills required:
• B.S./M.S. with 5-7 years of experience or PhD with 2 years of experience in Synthetic Chemistry and/or Pharmaceutical Development.
• Biotech/pharmaceutical industry experiences is required.
• Radiochemical synthesis familiarity
• Chemistry literature database searching experience required
• Familiarity with analytical methods and instrumentation used to characterize pharmaceutical APIs and drug products
• Experience with pharmaceutical development is preferred but not required
• Familiarity with analytical methods and instrumentation used to characterize pharmaceutical solid dosage forms
• Excellent laboratory, experimental, computer, documentation and organizational skills required
• Must have strong problem-solving skills and work ethic, good documentation and communication skills, as well as an attention to detail and the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
