Sirtris, a GlaxoSmithKline company, is developing small molecule drugs that target the sirtuins, a recently discovered family of seven enzymes associated with the aging process. Modulation of these enzymes offers the promise of drug discovery in multiple therapeutic areas.

We're seeking talented medicinal chemists to synthesize and purify drug candidates using a wide variety of modern synthetic and purification protocols and utilize expertise in the use of synthetic and analytical instrumentation (HPLC, NMR, MS etc.). Will analyze biological data around the drug candidates and assist the project team in the design of subsequent target compounds. Occasionally may be asked to write research reports, prepare presentation slides, etc., in the normal course of medicinal chemistry research. Also may be asked to present program data in a project meeting setting.

A Bachelors degree in chemistry with 2+ years industrial research experience is required. The ability to search the research literature to actively assist in solving problems in a team environment is also necessary. Excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to work closely with a variety of people on a daily basis are essential.
