Scientist/Senior Scientist
Responsibilities:
We seek a motivated, experienced hands-on scientist with expertise in protein purification and biochemistry to join the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Group in the Research Department. The individual will develop methods to isolate heat shock and related proteins from recombinant and natural sources, develop assays to characterize the products, and investigate protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions as they may relate to the development of therapeutic cancer vaccines. The individual will be responsible for initiating discovery programs in collaboration with other members of the Research Department, producing experimental vaccines from human or animal tissues for in vitro and in vivo investigations, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, transferring discovery programs into the Development labs, preparing appropriate documentation, presenting his/her work at internal meetings and providing scientific leadership and training for other staff members. The individual will work closely across research and development teams and contribute to a dynamic work environment where teamwork is essential.
Qualifications:
The candidate will have hands-on experience in protein purification, protein characterization and assay development, including diverse chromatographic and analytical methods. Good writing, communication and computer skills, as well as strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, are essential. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Biochemistry or a related field with 2+ years of post-doctoral experience or 5+ years of practicing science in an industrial setting.
