Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Participate in compilation of thorough and dynamic bodies of market/disease/product knowledge and creation of related projections that will be used for strategic decisions and deal-making. For products that are in the company's AIETA pipeline, use this knowledge to develop/execute US commercialization plans that lead to successful market entry and company growth.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With small team, develop rigorous commercial assessments of in-licensing and acquisition opportunities for EMD Serono
  • Gather and assess US data on disease areas, indications, key customers, and business environment (i.e., search and critically evaluate clinical literature, business sources, and market research on incidence/prevalence, product profile, competitive therapies, competitive companies, key customers, and related business issues)
  • Help develop and support critical assumptions used to quantify the market and potential value of products under multiple scenarios, including commercial operating expense budgets
  • Organize and communicate findings to team and other key constituents
  • Develop and execute early, approved US commercialization plans for AIETA pipeline products to ensure successful market entry.
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute US-specific, critical, early-stage commercialization activities
  • Develop and defend corresponding budget
  • Cultivate relationships and collaborate with US key opinion leaders in related areas
  • Coordinate relevant activities with Corporate AIETA Marketing and other departments
  • Help create critical input for AIETA Strategy Group, Merck Serono Global Marketing, and project teams to drive optimal development and life-cycle management decisions regarding pipeline products to achieve their market potential and EMD Serono growth targets
  • Develop in-depth understanding of US rheumatology and other specialty markets and dynamics as well as critical success factors
  • For key elements of AIETA Target Product Profiles, provide validated (US ad boards and market research) input
  • Drive early brand and marketing message development, as well as Medical Communication strategies and tactics to ensure optimal results for US commercialization
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

EDUCATION/LANGUAGES

  • Fluent in English
  • BA/BS required
  • MBA or other advanced degree desired
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • 5 years US pharmaceutical/biotech operational experience, including participation in accurate business analysis, planning, and execution with successful outcomes
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Word skills, competency with Excel
Desired:
  • Biotech or specialty targeted small molecule experience
  • Promotional budget development and management
  • Agency management
  • US rheumatology and product launch experience
