Description
This candidate will take a lead role within the general ledger group for diverse and complex Commercial and R&D business operations. Ensure that management has high quality, accurate, and timely financial data to enable informed business decisions. To actively promote internal process improvement and provide financial support to all departments to drive the achievement of business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and maintains complex general accounting systems. Exercises sound judgment and discretion in escalating issues, problems or exceptions to policy and practice.
- Manage and coordinate assigned project and operational activities within the Finance Group.
- Internal Controls Tracking and Reporting to ensure sound internal control processes
- External and Internal audit management
- Implementation and conversion to a new ERP system
- Preparation and automation of the GAAP financials and subsequent coordination with tax.
- Prepares journal entries, posts data, maintains and reconciles multiple, complex or high impact ledger accounts. Recommends improvements in methods, systems, or procedures.
- Generates standard and ad hoc reports, applying skill, judgment and understanding of accounting principles and operational needs. Analyzes researches and reconciles complex issues and inconsistencies as required; refers policy exceptions for resolution. May participate in audit or pre-audit tasks and compliance activities.
- Assist in or prepares complex profit and loss, income and balance sheet or other statements and reports. Maintains backup documentation and historical files and records. Works independently to meet schedules and deadlines, implementing or technically supervising systems and administrative requirements. Applies seasoned operational and professional knowledge to resolve a variety of complex issues which may significantly impact P&L.
- Reviews professional literature and receives training to keep abreast of local, national and international financial and accounting principles, laws, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), and ensures compliance with all internal policies, procedures, and practices.
- Must work effectively with remote locations requiring excellent interpersonal skills as applicable to assignment.
- Must be willing to meet challenging deadlines at month and quarter end reporting cycles.
- BS in Accounting/Finance
- CPA, MBA or exposure to multiple areas of Finance and Accounting are desirable
- Minimum of 5 years of related financial and accounting experience is necessary
- Excellent quantitative, analytical, and spreadsheet skills required
- SAP experience mandatory, Oracle experience a plus
- Proven track record in process improvement
- Strong interpersonal skills: able to work constructively within a team environment
- Strong communication skills with internal and external contacts
- Experience in Microsoft Office Products
- Proactive individual driven to achieve goals
- Ability to manage and perform various tasks simultaneously
