The Process Science & Production group at Novartis Biologics is seeking a highly-motivated Ph.D. scientist with relevant experience to establish and lead the Purification group in Cambridge, MA.

The Lab Head will plan and guide the purification process development of therapeutic proteins foreseen for clinical studies or commercial use.

Expertise in microbial expressed protein purification and modification (e.g. pegylation) is highly desirable in addition to monoclonal antibody purification.

Lab head will be able to work independently, build/manage a team and organize research programs, but also able to take scientific direction from Unit Head and Novartis project leaders.

Lab Head is expected to be very collaborative and will be able to effectively represent Protein Production group on assigned Novartis Project Teams.

Requires excellent written, oral communication and data presentation skills to facilitate interactions with colleagues within Novartis Biologics and throughout Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research.

Supervisory experience as well as hands-on lab work in a flexible, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment are required.

A Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related life science field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the biotechnology industry required.
