The Process Science & Production group at Novartis Biologics is seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. scientist with relevant experience to establish and lead the Formulations group in Cambridge, MA.
The Lab Head will be responsible for biologic drug product development formulation activities including analytical method development and protein characterization.
Supervise and develop members of the group, ensuring that all direct reports and their teams achieve established objectives.
Characterization of the properties of new therapeutic protein formulations by state-of-the-art physicochemical analytical techniques.
Responsible for coordination with technical development functions outside of NBx and/or third party for technical / clinical manufacturing and device development.
Assess current capabilities, and lead the evaluation and implementation of new technologies for improved formulations.
Lab head will be able to work independently, build/manage a team and organize research programs, but also able to take scientific direction from Unit Head and Novartis project leaders.
Requires excellent written, oral communication and data presentation skills to facilitate interactions with colleagues within Novartis Biologics and throughout Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research.
A Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Biochemistry or related life science field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the biotechnology industry.
