Working out of the Billerica, MA office. Responsible for the identification of market requirements, new product definition and commercialization, and product line management and marketing for life sciences products for use in Drug Discovery/Basic Research market segments. Product families include insert cell cultureware and cell culture biologicals (ECMs, media). Analyze existing products and research new product opportunities in cell culture environments and cell assays for stem and primary cells. Serves as the marketing representative on multi-functional new product development teams. Responsible for the associated market launch and commercialization strategy and plans. • Responsible for developing and implementing annual North American marketing plans, including pricing, positioning and promotional strategies for product line. Work with Marketing Communications to ensure appropriate planning and delivery of marketing materials and programs, including product literature, catalogues, sales aids, direct mail, and advertising.
• Develops annual revenue budget and has responsibility for achievement of budgeted sales and gross margins. Reviews sales trends quarterly and revises individual product unit and dollar forecasts as appropriate.
• Prepares and submits new product proposals and serves on new product development teams. Provides competitive analysis and market assessment for new products. Provides input to ensure products meet customer needs and expectations during the development process. Coordination of field trials, marketing surveys, customer focus groups and providing follow-up customer support on order to insure an in-depth understanding of customer needs, potential opportunities. Responsible for translating customer voice of customer into product development plans with support from the Marketing manager and the core team leader. Develops and implements new product launch plans including pricing, promotion, and sales training.
• Provide product and market knowledge through customer and end user visits, worldwide market research and competitive analysis to determine market segmentation, market share data, customer needs, and future market trends. Attendance at trade shows/conferences. Collects and communicates worldwide customer needs to internal organization (customer service, R&D, manufacturing, quality control, inventory control and shipping). Works directly with customers and field sales representatives to uncover and understand customer needs. Conducts periodic literature reviews to update knowledge of product applications.
• Lead product lifecycle management and insure overall product line health by meeting customer need with existing products, rationalizing SKUs and introducing product line extensions. Responsible for contribution margin of product line with focus on top line revenue and margin growth within product segment. Solicits and evaluates ideas for cost improvements. Closely monitors global pricing within major markets in order to optimize pricing and product positioning. Works with R&D and/or operations to develop line extensions, defining customer need requirements, and target product specifications.
• Provides direction to sales representatives including positioning, sales tactics, competitive comparisons, and product features and benefits. Develops and provides product and applications training material for North American sales representatives and international sales/marketing personnel. Prepares and delivers presentations at regional and national sales meetings.
• Provides support to assist international marketing managers and NA sales managers in meeting their goals as required.
• Maintains knowledge of advances in life science disciplines. Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work.

Qualifications:
• Position has significant level of technical complexity.
• Candidate must have, and maintain, knowledge of current advances in life science disciplines.
• Must maintain familiarity with the research product reagents, or similar market, through ongoing contact with other market managers, salespeople, customers and leaders in the field.
• Must have the ability to predict market trends and the creativity to translate into high value products. Multiple projects must be managed simultaneously and driven to successful conclusion.
• Must prepare expense budgets and accurately forecast product sales.
• BA/BS in a life sciences discipline required; MBA or equivalent business experience a plus.
• Minimum of 5-8 years experience in Product Management, Sales, or related experience, preferably in the research products market.
