Percivia is seeking an innovative and motivated professional with a proven track record in protein chemistry, complex and routine protein purification and analytics, and downstream bioprocessing to lead the Downstream processing group. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team in the development of a processing platform for a wide variety of recombinant therapeutic proteins and monoclonal antibodies produced in the PER.C6® human cell line. This individual will have a key and prominent role in laying out the foundation for the Percivia organization’s future growth by developing innovative process ideas. As part of the senior Management team, the head of DSP Development will actively participate in the nomination and selection of future growth opportunities for the company. In this role, the candidate will play a critical role in representing the company at key events, and contribute to the growth of the business by working in close collaboration with the business development group as a technical expert.

  

Responsibilities
- Support company growth by providing innovative solutions to the processing of protein therapeutics

- Provide technical leadership for PhD & non-PhD staff engaged in recombinant protein purification and characterization and process development.
- Provide guidance in the statistical design, execution, analysis, and troubleshooting of experiments.
- Provide tech transfer support during scale-up and manufacturing. 
- Interact with other departments (e.g. upstream/analytical development, project management, business development) to support the execution of projects
- Interact with outside clients who are engaging Percivia for contract research

 Requirements

-         Ph.D. in chemical engineering (preferred) , Biochemical Engineering ,or a related discipline

-         Minimum of 7-10 years of life sciences downstream process development industry experience

-         Experience managing scientific staff.

-         Strong leadership ability to take responsibility for driving forward major research programs

-         Entrepreneural skills to launch and support technical and product ideas.

-         Working knowledge of cGMPs related to the production of protein therapeutics.

-         Ability to work in team environments with people from a variety of scientific disciplines

-         Willingness to work in a customer-oriented environment

-         Good verbal and written communication skills that permit effective communication with clients and co-workers

-         Experience in scale-up of purification processes for pre-clinical and early clinical production

-         Expertise in downstream purification of complex molecules including glycosylated proteins, blood clotting factors, enzymes, fusion proteins, and monoclonal antibodies to cite a few examples.
