The Percivia PER.C6® Development Center develops the PER.C6® human cell line for recombinant proteins.  PERCIVIA offers an integrated technology platform for protein production and provides customers a hands-on experience of the PER.C6® technology.  The PER.C6® platform encompasses cell line generation technology, cell culture development, and downstream processes, design, scale-up, technology transfer, and regulatory support.  High yields in combination with the fully human glycosylation properties, make the PER.C6 cell line an attractive platform for the production of proteins, including monoclonal antibodies.  

Sr Director/Director – Protein (Bio) Analytical Sciences 

 

Description of the position:

The Head of the Protein and Analytical Sciences Department is responsible for the quantification, characterization, and understanding of the protein molecules being developed by PERCIVIA using the PER.C6® human cell line. The PAS group also provides support to customer programs being developed at PERCIVIA. In this role, the successful candidate has to have a proven record of technical and managerial leadership in the field of protein biochemistry and characterization, and in the development of recombinant protein therapeutics. The candidate has to posses the required knowledge, experience, and skills to establish and maintain a reliable and timely support of each of the programs being carried out at PERCIVIA. The candidate will also contribute to the growth of the company by providing sound advice on the best strategy to provide the required analytical support to these programs, and by actively participating in nominating and leading programs to be pursued.

General Duties:

 In this role, the leader of the PAS group will interface with various departments on a routine basis, and it is expected to posses the required interpersonal skills for successful execution of the company goals.  Specifically the individual will be responsible for the development, implementation, and tech transfer of analytical methods involved in the biotechnology industry including methods that explore the quality and quantity of recombinant molecules. Experience in the analysis of glycans, development of ELISA and enzymatic assays, examination of structural integrity of proteins are a must. The person should be able to analyze data and provide scientific input and direction to junior personnel within the group; prioritize projects and resources, write technical reports and manuscripts for publications, present to internal and external scientific meetings. Previous experience with the analysis of proteins produced in mammalian cells is a plus. Will be responsible for attracting and retaining talented individuals within the Protein and Analytical Sciences group.

 

Education:

Requires a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (Analytical Chemistry or Biochemistry) and a minimum of 7-10 years experience in an industrial setting. Expert knowledge of analytical biochemistry principles and concepts is required.

 

Qualifications:

 

  •  Knowledge/expertise in the fields of analytical protein biochemistry, glycobiology, biological activity assays, and/or immunoassays.
  •  Solid background in leading a team of scientists in the fields above.
  •  Ability to support corporate development by providing sound advice on technologies and methodologies and practices, as well as interpret data in a meaningful fashion for decision-making by senior management.
  • Experience in developing and implementing complex analytical methods and instrumentation to characterize protein therapeutics
  • Experience in supporting regulatory filings is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5+ years supervisory management experience of both PhD & non-PhD scientists
