Ra Pharmaceuticals is an early-stage biotechnology company developing highly modified peptides as novel therapeutics. Ra's approach merges in vitro selection technologies with synthetic biology to construct and screen extremely large and diverse macromolecule libraries. Founded in 2008, Ra has strong venture support and is located in the Kendall Square area of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Description: We are currently seeking a Research Technician/Research Associate to join our Target Biology group. Primary responsibilities will include the execution of biochemical and cell-based assays for the evaluation of drug candidates. Other activities may include assay development and expression, purification and characterization of target proteins. Additionally, acquisition and management of supplies and instruments may be required.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a BA/BS or MS degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline and 1 year of laboratory experience. Knowledge and experience with basic tissue culture technique is required. Demonstrated experience in the development of biochemical and cell-based assays as well as a familiarity with a broad range of assay technologies is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be a flexible and careful bench scientist who is eager to learn new technologies and excited by the challenges and rewards of working in a highly demanding start-up environment.
