Senior Cheminformatics Analyst
FORMA Therapeutics Inc. is currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated and talented cheminformatics analyst supporting our Research Informatics. The desired candidate will have a demonstrated track record in managing large volumes of scientific data in support of drug discovery projects and should have significant experience with commercial software solutions that facilitate data acquisition and analysis for chemical library synthesis, as well as managing high throughput screening data. In addition to operational support responsibilities, the candidate will participate in, lead and/or execute new projects that provide additional informatics’ capabilities to research staff. The candidate will interact with chemists and biologists at all levels within the organization to automate processes, improve existing workflows, and ensure data quality. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, as is the desire and ability to work in a multidisciplinary, environment and contribute to team-based decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with chemists and biologists to enable capture, analysis and visualization of scientific data
- Perform business/systems’ analysis including requirements definition, vendor product selection and project execution
- Install, configure, monitor, maintain/upgrade, and/or troubleshoot scientific applications and underlying software leveraging ITIL best practices
- Partner with software vendors to resolve issues and implement enhancements in a timely manner
- Create and maintain research and operations business practices ensuring data stewardship and data quality for electronic data capture
- Create and maintain web portals for alliances with strategic partners
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific/technical discipline (Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science) with 8+ years of experience working in biotech/pharmaceutical industry
- Three years experience in chemical and biological application support is required
- Knowledge and experience with a variety of commercial software packages, including Accelrys Pipeline Pilot, Schrodinger Seurat, TIBCO Spotfire, CambridgeSoft ChemBioOffice andELN, Core Informatics, IDBS ActivityBase
- Experience with large volume, data centric processes involving scientific applications for storage, retrieval and analysis is required
- Hands-on experience in managing Oracle database schemas and using PL/SQL required
- Strong experience in desktop support and application deployment and testing in a Microsoft environment is required
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with a team of scientists
- Must be goal oriented, customer focused, and able to work as part of a dynamic team
- Identify and implement solutions to resolve process bottlenecks and accelerate drug discovery
- Experience programming with chemical rendering APIs and database cartridges such as ChemAxon, Daylight and OpenEye is preferred
- Pipeline Pilot protocol development and Perl/Python scripting will be a plus
- Knowledge of ITIL framework with a focus on incident and change management is a plus
