Summary

Foundation Medicine is seeking a Finance Manager (FP&A).  The Finance Manager will be responsible for financial planning, reporting and analysis with a focus on sales/revenue reporting and analysis.  Preparing financial plans and forecasts based on the strategies determined by the senior management team.  Gathering and publishing various financial reporting and analysis including historical, current and forward looking financial plans.  Perform financial analysis and scenarios using appropriate financial concepts and techniques.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Prepare the monthly financial reporting package including the appropriate level of detail on actual vs. budget analysis and any implications to the monthly rolling forecast
  • Assist in managing a monthly financial forecast process that updates the organization on the latest best estimate of future financial performance. Quality narrative outlining the business activities that have changed and the financial implications of such activities
  • Provide Product Sales and Margin trend reporting and other reporting that is needed to analyze the business
  • Assist in the strategic planning and analysis processes, including the development of annual operating plans, monthly forecasting, contingency planning, etc.
  • Assist in monthly and quarterly business review processes and annual operating plans
  • Partner with the functional business leaders to provide timely and relevant financial information and analyses to enable sound decision making (e.g. monthly expense analysis, product line profitability, customer profitability, efficiency metrics, etc.)
  • Develop a relationship with the senior managers demonstrating the value that a finance team and consistent financial reporting can add to the decision making process
  • Develop, build and maintain Revenue and CGS models
  • Process improvement suggestions for revenue and analytics reporting on both retail and net sales by customer
  • Other ad hoc projects as necessary

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Mix of private and public company experience
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.  Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.  Experience with Quickbooks, MS Dynamics, and Forecasting Systems a plus
  • Must have strong computer, analytical, mathematical and advanced excel modeling
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.  Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings and work with cross functional leaders
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule as projects dictate and adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • A “people person” capable of establishing good personal relationship
  • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership qualities in complicated situations
  • Good organizational skills with a great deal of attention to detail
  • Responsible and extremely resourceful in finding answers and solutions when information and data is not readily available

 Education and Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and7+ years of progressively responsible experience in a fast paced/high growth environment
