Head BPA, NIBR Operations
The Head BPA NIBR Operations is the financial business partner to the global Heads of all NIBR support functions. The main Global Line Functions (GLFs) include Scientific Operations, Facility Operations, Program Office, IT, HR, Finance, Strategic Alliances, Patents & Legal. The Head BPA NIBR Operations and his 2 associates provide those functions with financial planning, reporting, analysis and financial expertise to support decision making and drive productivity and pro-active risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnering - Partner effectively with various Heads of NIBR Operations in all financial matters. - Support decision-making process with financial analysis; ensure business partner understand the financial implications of their actions and decisions. - Be a critical business partner and challenge assumptions made. - Evaluate risks/opportunities, proactively communicate and make recommendations for mitigation. Follow up and ensure issues are addressed. - Communicate openly and efficiently within the matrix organization. - Ensure business partners understand the financial processes and follow internal guidelines/SOPs.
Reporting and Analysis - Provide timely, accurate and meaningful financial management reporting that serves as the basis of performance management and decision making. - Interpret key data and translate into actionable information for management. - Ensure GLF management is aware of issues (deviations, trends) that require action. Proactively inform and propose solutions/recommendations. - Customize reporting tools in response to customer needs, while driving standardization and automation. - Generate ad hoc management analysis reports to support business decisions.
Planning and Forecasting for NIBR Operations - Lead the Budgeting and resource allocation for NIBR Operations in close collaboration with their Functional Heads and Heads of Operation. - Leading the short tem planning forecast for the NIBR Operations GLFs. - Plan, prepare and track capital investment projects.
Project Management - Lead and/or support local and global NIBR scientific and financial initiatives. - Proactively identify issues, alert key stakeholders and take actions to prevent derailment or deviation from plan. - Identify key learning and apply to future initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
Business Process Management and Control - Identify root caused of problems and recommend controls or processes for improvement. - Liaise with other finance functions such as Financial Reporting and Analysis (FRA), Requisition to Pay (RTP), and Strategic Sourcing groups to increase overall finance value contribution - Analyze and streamline processes to make more efficient from a business & finance perspective.
Accounting - Advise GLF management in application of accounting rules. - Apply standard accounting concepts and techniques. - Effectively cooperate with accounting department
Minimum Requirements:
Education (minimum/desirable): Degree in economics BS/BA, MBA/CPA strongly preferred
Languages: English, other languages a plus
Experience: 8-15 years of relevant business experience
Technical / Professional Knowledge and Skills: Supervisory and project experience to inspire team and project members to successfully implement new initiatives and processes
Accounting and reporting knowledge
Understand financial concepts and evaluate impact of decisions for current and future years.
Analytical Skills:
Deviation analysis, interpreting financial data and derive recommendations. Being able to look behind the numbers.
Technical / Professional Skills:
Good IT skills (Excel, SAP, PowerPoint)
