Volatiles Laboratory Team Leader
Job Summary
The VOA Team Leader provides operational support while participating in daily sample production. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: scheduling and prioritizing work tasks, training, problem solving, implementing new procedures and methods, analyzing samples, reviewing and validating data and completing reports.
Requirements:
Education: BS/BA in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental or related science preferred
Experience: 5 years + with 2-3 years in a supervisory role
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:- Calibrate instrumentation (GCMS and GC-FID/PID).
- Prepare standards used for analysis.
- Analyze samples using GCMS and GC-FID/PID. Methods include but not limited to: 524, 624, VPH, GRO, 8260 liquid and soil.
- Calculate, check, reduce, review and report data in accordance with applicable SOP’s.
- Interpret data and associated QC and approve data in the LIMS system.
- Ensure appropriate testing procedures are conducted in compliance with QA and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements.
- Schedule, prepare and analyze samples based on method requirements within turnaround time (TAT).
- Train new personnel.
- Adhere to established Health & Safety protocols.
- Develop improved techniques with Manager. Active LEAN participant.
- Act as point of contact in absence of Manager.
Secondary Duties:
- May stock and order supplies as needed.
- Maintain and promote clean work area(s).
- Assist other laboratory departments as needed.
Minimum Required Skills:
- Knowledge of safe laboratory practices, including the proper procedures in handling chemicals and unknown environmental samples.
- Strong oral/written communication and organizational skills.
- Solid experience with GC/GC-FID/PID instruments.
