We are currently seeking the expertise as a Diagnostic & GQC Technologist III in the Diagnostic Laboratory. Responsibilities include the handling of mice, as well as performing assays in microbiology, parasitology, and molecular biology, and the preparation of microbiologic media. The incumbent will also perform serological assays using ELISA, Luminex multiplex technology, and immunofluorescence assays (IFA). Other duties include extensive data entry, analysis, interpretation, and reporting. The frequent use of several computerized databases and Microsoft-based programs is required. Further, this position will assist department management in keeping diagnostic testing methodology in sync with current technology.
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working in a diagnostic laboratory and that possess established expertise in performing microbiologic cultures for identification of bacterial species. This position requires the knowledge to interpret results and understand the science involved with the assays, as well as the ability to learn new laboratory techniques in a timely fashion. This position also requires exceptional organizational and analytical investigative abilities, with a proven talent for troubleshooting microbiological testing methods. Further, the ability to multi-task and work independently, as well as the proven ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is necessary in order to record and report accurate testing results in a high-throughput, deadline-driven environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal personnel at all levels, both in written and oral form, are essential. Demonstrated ability to train others as well as the ability to engage in and foster teamwork in a fast paced setting will be key performing measures.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or closely related discipline. Other levels of education and experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
