This position has primary responsibility for the sale of SeraCare’s Research products to diagnostic kit and companion diagnostic manufacturers and to a lesser extent, other life science customers including pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Products include but are not limited to molecular controls and reference materials, disease state materials, performance and seroconversion panels, next generation sequencing controls, genetic testing controls, related plasma-based products, colorimetric and chemiluminescent substrates, primary and secondary antibodies and buffers used in the development and manufacture of IVD assays and by the clinical end-users as in kit controls or in validation processes. This position would include the sale of primary antibodies into the food pathogen arena. As a representative of SeraCare, the Scientific and Technical Sales Manager (STSM) must build a comprehensive business and travel plan to include all elements necessary to meet or exceed all goals for sales growth, profitability and customer satisfaction in the assigned geographic area. This role requires a person to have the ability to build strong business relationships at high levels within key accounts and to develop and execute strategic plans that result in business growth that meets or exceeds the SeraCare business plan. The STSM will perform in an ethical and professional manner at all times. This position can be located in Dallas, Austin or Houston, Texas.
A PhD and 5+ years of related experience selling into Research and Development departments in the in vitro diagnostic market including traditional molecular/serology diagnostic products and/or companion diagnostics is required; preferably selling antibody or plasma based products, molecular life science tools, and assay components, disease state materials, and other related product. This individual should have experience in managing accounts in a large geographic territory. This position requires the expert technical knowledge of products in the IVD space, including molecular and serology diagnostic and next generation products. The STSM must also have expert knowledge of all aspects of the sales process, strategic and tactical thinking, planning and organization as well as ability to implement Large Account Management (LAMP). This person must have a proven track record of developing business with major IVD and Pharma accounts. A good knowledge of Strategic and Consultative selling, excellent presentation skills (both group and one on one), excellent communications and teamwork skills is required to work effectively internally and externally. The STSM must have the ability to determine customers’ needs through a technical consultative process, and to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels within assigned accounts, including technical contacts within the R&D departments and at executive levels. Forecasting capabilities must be highly developed as well as the ability to create other reports accurately and on time as required. This individual must have a proven ability to promote and sell technical products in a professional manner through various forms of communication ranging from telephone sales to multi-participant presentations. Computer skills must be at the level necessary to organize customer data, pricing, proposals and other key information. A flexibility of schedule to meet changing deadlines including the ability and willingness to travel (50-75%) out of state and out of the country is required.
