Diagnostics For All (DFA) is an exciting non-profit organization focused on improving global health by creating and commercializing very low cost, easy-to-use, point-of-care medical diagnostic devices for underserved populations in the developing world. Conveniently located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, we are creating a new generation of diagnostic devices using elegantly simple paper-microfluidics technology, originally developed in the lab of Professor George Whitesides at Harvard University. DFA is seeking a creative and highly motivated person to fill a position at the Research Associate level in a new program focused on immunoassay and biochemical assay development. The goal of this project is to identify pathogens based on immunologic and biochemical signatures. Duties will include (i) pathogen culturing, (ii) device fabrication and testing, and (iii) data analysis.
We are searching for a candidate with strong technical skills and a passion for solving problems affecting those living in low-resource settings. The candidate must have a B.S. or M.S. degree in bioengineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field. Candidates with bacteria and other cell culture techniques are especially encouraged to apply. The ability to work independently with initiative and creativity is necessary.
Please note that this is a temporary position with funding not anticipated past June/July 2015.
