Senior Scientist II Molecular Biology

The Life Sciences and Toxicology department at Alkermes is seeking a highly motivated, experienced scientist to work on the development of new drug candidates utilizing the proprietary long-acting Fc fusion technology platform, Medifusion ™. The candidate shall be responsible for leading efforts to design engineered antibodies and fusion proteins for targeted inflammatory diseases.

The candidate must have demonstrated expertise in producing antibodies and/or fusion proteins at research scale for evaluation using both in vitro and in vivo models. Expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques is essential.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

This position requires a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (biochemistry, chemical engineering, molecular biology or immunology).

The candidate is expected to have at least 5-7 years of relevant experience industry, beyond the Ph.D. The demonstrated ability to produce engineered antibodies and/or fusion proteins using mammalian cell culture systems is essential

Knowledge and Skills Needed:

The applicant must have laboratory experience including DNA subcloning, PCR and other standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blotting and ELISA analysis.

They will be experienced in mammalian cell culture and receptor-binding assays. The candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of in vitro assays, including cell-based assays, used to evaluate the biochemical characteristics and activity of these proteins.

Previous experience in the area of immunology, inflammatory diseases and FACS techniques is highly desirable.

The candidate should possess a demonstrated ability to work independently in the design, execution and interpretation of complex experiments.
