Systems Administrator I - IT Media
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
This technical communications position, as a critical member of a lively and dedicated Communications team, will provide high-level support of the multiple communications platforms directly supporting the multiple communication and education activities at the Broad. These activities include web, graphic, video, podcast, AV and other unique efforts such as the Broad Institute Museum (DNAtrium) displays. Although embedded within the Communications team, the successful candidate will work in conjunction with other Broad IT staff to ensure that all communications efforts are aligned with Broad IT infrastructure in a way that maximizes the communications impact while at the same time taking advantage of current capabilities. In addition, the successful candidate must have a commitment to working, individually and as part of a strong team, to internalize and realize the high-level mission of the Broad Institute.
DUTIES
- Design, monitor and maintain Communications' servers environment and associated applications and services (Wowza Streaming Server, Podcast Producer, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Filemaker Pro)
- Support multiple platforms: Mac, PC, Linux
- Install, configure and maintain new hardware and software
- Maintain records of all warranties for software and hardware for Communications, assist in development of user documentation and training materials, document administrative procedures and issue resolutions
- Coordinate with IT and Communications to troubleshoot issues regarding workflows
- Support DNAtrium via general troubleshooting, calibrate MS Surfaces, work with vendors and museum manager to resolve issues (experience with Microsoft Visual Studio C++ and .NET framework based applications is a plus)
- Perform off-hours work as required to accommodate production requirements or respond to high-priority service requests
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or other technical discipline with strong knowledge of IT computing systems
- 3-5 years related experience
- Familiarity with delivering IT services in a scientific research organization highly desired
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong diagnostic and analytic skills
- Experience in complex project management
- Experience in anticipating and communicating the impact of technical change in a complex environment
