Nanomedicine: The Investment Landscape
Thursday, January 26 2012
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Location: MassBio
Nanotechnology is now well beyond a buzzword in the biopharma industry. The use of nanoparticals and structures in the monitoring, repair, and engineering of biological systems at the molecular level is increasingly a focus of the industry in affecting drug delivery. What is the current business and investment landscape for nanomedicine? This panel will bring together the perspectives of venture capital, a nanomedicine company, and academic research in considering this question.
Panelists include:
Ed Kania, Managing Director, Flagship Ventures
Oliver Fetzer, President and CEO, Cerulean Pharma
Omid Farokhzad, Director, Laboratory of Nanomedicine and Biomaterials, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Lars Montelius, Professor of Nanotechnology, Lund University, Moderator
The event is co-sponsored by Nano Connect Scandinavia, the Medicon Valley Alliance, and MassBio. A networking reception follows the event at 5 PM.
A substantial delegation from Denmark and Sweden will be in attendance with representatives from Lund University, the Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen University, and the University of Gothenburg included. Companies from the region represented will include H. Lundbeck, NIL technology, Bioneer, Spago Imaging, and Sophion BioScience.
The panel discussion will be followed by brief presentations from the visiting delegation.
