Personalized and Targeted Peptide Based Therapy for Lung Cancer by Andarix Pharma

  • Chris Adams, CEO, Andarix Pharmaceuticals

Andarix Pharmaceuticals is a clinical stage company developing targeted treatment for lung, neuroendocrine and other cancers based on a proprietary somatostatin peptide conjugate (P2045). P2045 specifically binds somatostatin receptors on cancer cells for the targeted delivery of radiotherapy. Extensive research has demonstrated that somatostatin receptors are highly up-regulated on several solid tumors, particularly lung cancers and neuroendocrine tumors. The company has successfully completed three Phase I studies of the targeted therapy. Patients were selected for the trials based on their individual levels of somatostatin receptor expression at the disease site. The therapy showed an increase in overall survival for stage III lung cancer patients of 12 months vs. 4 months for standard of care. The company is now planning to continue with Phase II studies.
