Location: Boston College Flynn Athletic Complex
On Saturday, March 16, 2013, the 9th Annual Bio-Ball tournament heads to a new location at Boston College in Newton. For almost a decade the biotech and pharma communities have been delivering smiles and much needed funds to support the more than 1,800 Special Olympics Massachusetts’ athletes participating in basketball programs.
Bio-Ball is a one day basketball tournament involving 16 local biotech and pharma companies and 16 Special Olympics basketball teams. The 16 participating companies each field a basketball team. That team is then paired with a local Special Olympics Massachusetts basketball team forming an integrated and unified team. The 16 “teams” are then divided into two divisions and spend the day competing in both individual skills and 5 on 5 competition. At the end of the day, a championship game determines the winner of Bio-Ball.
The event is sponsored by all of the providers that support the local biotech community with all of the proceeds going to benefit Special Olympics Massachusetts. There are still Sponsorship Opportunities available! More information can be found on the Bio-Ball Sponsorship Page. Help us reach our goal of $90,000!
With any level of sponsorship, a company has the opportunity to invite their employees to volunteer at the event. Volunteers do not need to play or know Basketball to help out. This is a great opportunity to support the Special Olympics, while interacting with a robust representation from the Life Science industry. There will be a contest for the company that brings the most volunteers!!!! You will get breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt. Parking is available.
More information can be found on the Bio-Ball homepage.
