Forum in Surgical Technology: GERD and the Lower Esophageal Sphincter

The University of Massachusetts Department of Surgery, in collaboration with the UMCCTS and M2D2, is hosting the first of a series of events to introduce the newly formed Surgical Technology Innovation and Commercialization Program at UMass (STIC-UM)!
The STIC-UM Forum in Surgical Technology will occur four times a year and focus on key surgical market opportunities. The events will include presentations from Forum topic-specific clinical experts, engineering experts, and guest speakers from the industry and regulatory spaces.
The first Forum in Surgical Technology will occur on May 29th from 5-7 p.m. at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA. The focus of this Forum will be Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and the Lower Esophageal Sphincter.
The agenda will include presentations on:
- Market opportunities for GERD
- Overview of the current surgical standard of care
- Review of novel technology approaches
- Promising new technology
- Regulatory perspectives
This will then be followed by a round-table discussion moderated by Dr. Demetrius E.M. Litwin, Chairman of the Department of Surgery.
