NSTC First Friday Biosciences Seminar: History of Cubist

Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Lexington is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the research, development, and commercial¬ization of pharmaceutical products that address significant unmet medical needs in the acute care environment. Cubist’s Executive Vice President Dr. Steven C. Gilman will summarize the history of the company and its future strategy.

Since joining the company five years ago, Dr. Gilman has held multiple senior leadership roles at Cubist, focusing on research and development as well as in discovery and non-clinical development. Previously, Dr. Gilman held senior leadership positions at ActivBiotics, Millennium Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer. He has also held scientific, business, and academic appointments at Wyeth, Cytogen Corporation, Temple Medical School, and Connecticut College. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Association and Inhibikase, Inc., as well as on the Science and Regulatory Executive Committee of PhRMA and the Penn State University Biotechnology Advisory Board.  Dr. Gilman received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in microbiology from Pennsylvania State University, his post-doctoral training at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, and received a B.A. in microbiology from Miami University of Ohio.
