Many in the life sciences industry (particularly those in the pharma and medical device sectors) are increasingly concerned about counterfeited drugs and devices making their way onto the market.  According to U.S. Customs and Border patrol, the value of seized counterfeit goods in 2013 was $1.7Billion and pharmaceuticals/personal care products represented approximately 5% of all seized goods in 2013.

Please join us for an interactive discussion with the people who know the techniques and strategies for combating counterfeiters based on real world experience. Light appetizers and cocktails will be served.

Topics to be discussed:

  • Everything you need to know about registering your trademarks and copyrights with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (“CBP”)
  • Best practices for making CBP aware of your brand, your intellectual property rights (“IPR”), and the key features of counterfeit goods
  • The ins and outs of the seizure process and what it typically entails
  • Strategies for using trademarks and embedding security features to identify counterfeit goods
  • How and when Homeland Security and/or the FBI gets involved in a seizure or investigation
