More often than not, biopharma executives' eyes glaze over when one discusses efficiency (cost control) as compared to new markets, new discoveries, or new acquisitions. Why is this, and how does it impact clinical development in general and clinical data management specifically?
This presentation will review why clinical development management misses the importance of controlling internal costs and instead tends to jump to the use of outsourcing, offshoring and "partners". These strategies confuse the components of cost, process, competencies and competitive advantage.
Using examples from data management and the use of technology, we will explore:
- false assumptions about the causes of operational dysfunction
- how process effectiveness is an underappreciated management too
- the role current functions must play in restoring control and responsibility.
Presenter: Ronald S. Waife, President, Waife & Associates, Inc.
Intended Audience: Project Managers, Line Managers and Directors of BDM and other clinical operations functions.
