NEW DATE! LAW & POLICY: Massachusetts' New Lobbying Laws: A Primer

Important amendments to the Massachusetts ethics and lobbying law recently went into effect on January 1, 2010. Of particular importance to MassBio members, the new law has significantly expanded the definition of who is a "lobbyist". As a result, certain employees and executives of MassBio member companies may now be required to register as lobbyists -- even if they never considered themselves to be lobbyists before.
Any MassBio member whose employees and executives interact with local and/or state government officials must understand the implications of this law, the registration requirements and the potentially significant civil and criminal penalties for failure to comply.
