CT: The Necessity for Transformative Change in Pharmaceutical R&D

Friday, June 11 2010
12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Pharmaceutical R&D is at a critical juncture: the commercial environment has become more competitive and restrictive while the cost and complexity of research and development is rising, and the rate of innovation is declining.  This session looks at trends impacting R&D and the many solutions that have been implemented by pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in an attempt to address these current market realities and operating conditions.  Particular attention will be paid to new and fundamental opportunities that may hold the key to delivering higher and more sustainable levels of R&D efficiency and performance.

Presenter: Ken Getz M.B.A., Senior Research Fellow, TUFTS CSDD

Ken Getz worked for over seven years in management consulting, where he assisted biopharmaceutical companies in planning and implementing drug development strategies. Currently, he is a senior research fellow at the Tufts CSDD as well as the founder and chairman of CISCRP, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising public awareness and trust in the clinical research enterprise.  Ken is also the founder and owner Center Watch — a leading clinical research information services company.
