Mission
Address issues relevant to safety, environmental affairs and facilities management committee and how issues will affect the Massachusetts Biotechnology Community.
Issues that benefit the organization are initiated by group members and pursued by group members for the betterment of the industry. Leadership provided by co-chairs.
Action Plan
- Focus on health and safety, i.e. develop a partnership with OSHA and other safety organizations.
- Reduce duplicative regulation.
- Focus on facility management.
- Provide practical assistance through seminars (members and guest speakers), partnerships, and improved communications.
Topics
- Remain up-to-date with and interact with the following committee contacts: DEP, MWRA, OTA, LLRW, etc.
- Continue to use the Biotechnology Regulatory Guide for Communities to provide a basic understanding of the industry and address environmental risk concerns.
- Energy and resource conservation, environmental regulatory changes and recycling programs.
- What to do in the Event of an EPA Enforcement Action
