The Harvard Extension School—recognized as a national and international leader in the field of continuing studies—has offered access to many of Harvard University's academic resources for nearly a century. Its distinguished faculty, motivated students, and innovative programs create a rich learning environment that is worthy of Harvard's tradition of academic excellence. Students can take open-enrollment, individual courses for career advancement or enroll formally in a degree or certificate program. Courses in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science,engineering sciences, environmental studies, history of science, natural sciences, physics, statistics, and administration and management may be of interest to those currently working in the biotechnology industry, or who aspire to enter the field. Several courses are available online. Professional graduate programs include the Master of Liberal Arts in Biotechnology; Master of Liberal Arts in Environmental Studies; and Master of Liberal Arts in Information Technology; as well as a traditional Master of Liberal Arts in 19 other fields of study including biology. Graduate certificate programs include the Certificate in Environmental Management; Certificate in Technologies of Education; Certificate in Applied Science; and Certificate of Special Studies in Administration and Management.
