Boston Redevelopment Authority
The Boston Redevelopment Authority is the planning, economic development and workforce development agency for the City of Boston.
In partnership with communities, the BRA plans Boston’s future while respecting its past. We prepare our residents for new opportunities through training, human services and job creation. The BRA guides physical, social, and economic change in Boston’s neighborhoods and its downtown to shape a more prosperous, comfortable, and beautiful city for all.
The BRA's responsibilities include reviewing proposed development projects and leading neighborhood planning initiatives that address infrastructure and economic development.
Within its Economic Development Department, the BRA manages six Economic Initiatives, including the City’s LifeTech Initiative, which is dedicated to fostering the growth of Boston's life sciences sector. Offering life science companies a single point of contact with city services, LifeTech Boston assists companies with site location, while also adding value in financing assistance, permitting & zoning, workforce development, and transportation.
