What has made Massachusetts a better place for biotech? Make your nomination by 5 PM on Feb. 24th!
This year, in order to recognize companies working to shape Massachusetts as the ideal setting for life sciences companies, the Economic Development Advisory Group (EDAG) at MassBio has established the Leading Edge Award.
This award will annually recognize significant contributions made by companies to further Massachusetts as a biotechnology and life sciences hub.
Massachusetts is the premier location for the life sciences. Its research hospitals, universities, skilled workforce, and well-developed entrepreneurial and investment communities form a supportive ecosystem that drives innovation forward.
The life sciences are further supported by innovators within the industry and in the arena of property development and local, regional, and state economic development. The Leading Edge Award recognizes those innovators who help advance biotech and life sciences in these areas.
“The mission of MassBio’s Economic Development Advisory Group (EDAG) is to identify initiatives and support efforts that enhance the competitiveness of Massachusetts as a location for the biotechnology industry,” said Mark R. Bamforth, EDAG Chairman and CEO of Gallus Pharmaceuticals. “This award will provide appropriate recognition for those who have successfully advanced the growth of Massachusetts as the premier location in the world for biotechnology.”
This award will be given to those companies that have successfully worked to improve the competitiveness of Massachusetts as a destination for the life sciences industry. Nominations are due by February 24th.
Award nominations will be accepted online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LeadingEdgeAward.
Examples of potential honorees include municipal governments that have removed barriers to entry for life science facility projects, companies and organizations which have advanced industry growth through civic engagement, or companies whose exemplary actions over time or on specific projects have contributed to the growth of the industry in the Commonwealth.
Awardees will be recognized at the MassBio Annual Meeting, March 26-27, 2012 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge.
