Supreme Court Rejects Gene Patents
The Supreme Court ruled today that human genes cannot be patented. The court’s unanimous decision in Association for Molecular Pathology vs. Myriad Genetics bars the patenting of naturally occurring isolated biological material, but rules cDNA is patentable.
