Massachusetts Biotechnology Council Launches Federal Policy Scorecard
March 24, 2009 (Cambridge, MA)- The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MBC) today announced the launch of the first-ever Federal Legislative Scorecard, designed to monitor issues important to the life sciences industry and better communicate with industry leaders.
"As the recent economic downturn shows, the Massachusetts biotechnology industry is fragile and policy decisions are critical to our ability to create jobs and discover new therapies and cures for patients," said MBC President & CEO Robert Coughlin. "Our members have asked for an easy way to follow and weigh in on federal policy initiatives, and the Scorecard will help meet that need."
MBC will debut the scorecard next week at BIO Fly In, an event where biotechnology executives from around the country converge on Washington, D.C. to advocate for industry-endorsed policies and regulations.
For the 2009-2010 legislative session, the MBC Scorecard will track votes related to policy issues outlined in our 2009 federal white paper, "Working Together Today to Ensure a Healthy Tomorrow."
