MBC Announces Its Collaboration with Indigo

June 30, 2009

The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council today announced its collaboration with Indigo Insurance Services, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

Indigo was chosen as a Primary Supplier in the MBC Purchasing Consortium to provide MBC member companies access to ancillary insurance benefits.

"MBC is constantly reviewing its programs and services to help members compete in an increasingly global environment," said Robert K. Coughlin, MBC President & CEO. "Indigo offers members a comprehensive, affordable easy-to-administer benefit package that will help attract and retain the talented employees as our industry continues to grow in Massachusetts."

"By extending Indigo Insurance Services offerings to Massachusetts Biotechnology Council member companies, we provide them with a competitive opportunity to purchase comprehensive, affordable life and disability plans - preparing a company and its employees for life's unexpected events," said Richard Greenhalgh, Managing Director of Indigo Insurance Services, LLC.

Massachusetts-based MBC members with two or more employees will have access to Group and Voluntary Life insurance as well as Short and Long Term Disability insurance, with preferred rates and benefits. In addition, MBC members who choose Indigo will experience the convenience and cost-savings of a single point of contact for all their employee benefits needs and a consolidated electronic bill for all products purchased through both Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and Indigo.

The MBC Purchasing Consortium leverages the power of the collective membership to negotiate contracts with vendors that save member companies significant amounts of money. Current consortium contracts include bulk gases, packaged cylinder gases, chemical and biomedical waste removal, office supplies, lab equipment maintenance and travel services. The consortium also offer discounts on shipping and courier services.
