Cubist President and CEO Michael Bonney Named MassBio Innovative Leadership Award Recipient
Commitment to industry, growth, participation in Massachusetts cited in announcement
March 15, 2010 (CAMBRIDGE, MA) - Michael Bonney, President & CEO of Cubist Pharmaceuticals, has been chosen for this year's MassBio Innovative Leadership Award, the association announced today.
The award, which recognizes Bonney's leadership and commitment to the Massachusetts biotechnology supercluster, will be given at a luncheon at MassBio's Annual Meeting on March 31st at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.
"Mike has been truly committed to supporting each and every aspect of the biotechnology ecosystem here in Massachusetts," said Robert K. Coughlin, President & CEO of MassBio. "From his work in STEM education and workforce development, to his passion for policy and advocacy, Mike is a shining example of the values behind the biotechnology industry."
To be considered for the MassBio Innovative Leadership Award, an individual must represent a company that has a strong presence in and commitment to growing in Massachusetts, have demonstrated leadership on issues of patient advocacy and must participate in community affairs and have made a contribution to the public policy dialogue.
Other criteria include support of community-based organizations and educational efforts like the MassBioEd Foundation. Finally, candidates must exhibit exemplary leadership to employees and families by creating a positive work environment.
This is the second year MassBio will present the award. The first recipient was Fereydoun Firouz, EMD Serono's President & CEO.
