TraceLink and Sharp Corporation Partner to Provide Production Visibility and Serialization Services for Life Science Customers

November 5, 2010

TraceLink, Inc., provider of the World’s 1st Industry-Wide Supply Collaboration Network, and Sharp Corporation, world class provider of healthcare contract packaging, design, and engineering services, today announced that Sharp has joined the TraceLink Network. By integrating Sharp’s packaging and serialization services with TraceLink’s collaborative supply network, Sharp’s 80+ pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and OTC customers will gain improved performance, visibility and coordination throughout contract packaging and finished goods distribution.

“Our mission is to create customized packaging solutions for our customers’ unique needs, particularly the faster moving, smaller and under-resourced companies,” said Rick Seibert, vice president – project management & NBD, Sharp Corporation.  “The TraceLink Network gives us and our customers shared visibility into the production process from material receipt to quality release and product shipment. As a result, we can reduce cycle-time, improve on-time delivery and be more responsive to changing customer requirements.”

“Sharp has a large base of globally diverse customers with specific, localized packaging requirements,” said Shabbir Dahod, president and chief executive officer of TraceLink, “With the TraceLink Network, Sharp can leverage our “integrate-once, interoperate with everyone” transaction platform to create rich information connections to their growing network of pharmaceutical companies and contract manufacturing partners. This will accelerate Sharp’s ability to collaborate with customers on new value-added services.”

In addition to current work integrating Sharp’s packaging systems with TraceLink’s collaboration platform, Sharp and TraceLink are also collaborating on the technical development of serialization services in preparation for 2015 pedigree and serialization regulatory mandates in the United States. These mandates include item-level serialization of drug products and the establishment of an electronic pedigree chain of custody.

Sharp and TraceLink plan to roll out the integrated solution to joint Life Science customers starting in the first quarter of 2011.
