Mabbett Receives 2012 New England and Massachusetts SBA Veteran Small Business Champion Award
Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett™) is pleased to announce that Arthur N. Mabbett, President of Mabbett, has been awarded the US Small Business Administration’s (SBA) New England and Massachusetts 2012 Veteran Small Business Champion Award.
“Clearly Arthur’s actions have made a difference ---for veterans as recognized by the SBA and for all of us who have had the pleasure to work with him,” commented Paul Steinberg, Mabbett Senior Vice President. “Arthur is also very generous with his time and regularly provides support and mentoring to other veterans and disabled veterans pursuing their own business ventures and dreams. Through his leadership the firm has implemented a veteran friendly hiring practice and currently >35% of our staff are veterans.”
The Veterans Small Business Champion award is presented to an individual that is an active supporter for legislative or regulatory action designed to help small business, increases business opportunities for veterans, improve awareness among veterans groups, is an advocate for special consideration for veteran-owned small businesses in government policymaking, has demonstrated accomplishment in obtaining support within the community for the establishment of veteran-owned small businesses, and advocates for veteran-owned small businesses. As noted in the SBA award letter from Robert Nelson, SBA District Director, “This is a well-deserved and distinct honor, and it is indicative of special volunteer efforts on behalf or our dedicated service men and women. This support is especially important in this economic climate.”
“I am honored to receive such an award and gladly accept the award in the name of every veteran that has served this great country in the US Armed Forces,” Arthur N. Mabbett, President commented at the award ceremony held at Fenway Park. “We have worked hard to create opportunity for veterans companywide and will continue to support veteran advocacy and do whatever we can to help ensure veterans receive due consideration for their defense of our liberty, peace and freedom and for their sacrifice.”
Mr. Mabbett served as an Environmental Science Officer, Medical Service Corps in the US Army from 1970 to 1989; 6 years active duty and 13 years in the Reserve. He was discharged at the rank of Major and was awarded the Meritorious Service and Army Commendation medals.
