iGEM 2017 Giant Jamboree
An annual showcase of projects from the iGEM competition
This year thousands of participants from over 40 countries will meet in Boston to showcase their work in finding biologically engineered solutions to today's global challenges.
- Presentations from university and high school student teams
- Exhibition hall poster sessions
- Workshops and panel discussions
- Career fair
- Award ceremony and much more.
Generating over 1,300 research projects and 20+ start-ups, iGEM has a history of producing both leaders and breakthroughs in synthetic biology. Join us at the Giant Jamboree and uncover what today’s brightest minds have created.

About the iGEM Foundation
The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to education and competition, the advancement of synthetic biology, and the development of an open community and collaboration. Since its founding, over 28,000 people have participated in iGEM.
The main program at the iGEM Foundation is the iGEM Competition. The iGEM competition challenges students to work in multidisciplinary teams to solve real-world problems using a synthetic biology based on standard parts approach. By building genetically engineered systems using standard, interchangeable parts, iGEM teams create sophisticated projects that address challenges in environmental bioremediation, medical diagnostics systems, biofuels, as well as software and hardware. This summer competition concludes when teams gather to showcase their work and compete at the annual Giant Jamboree in Boston, MA in the fall.
