Take Our Survey and Kick Off Our Gender Diversity Initiative

You may have seen the gloomy statistics:

  • 52% of biotech companies in US have all male board1
  • Women make up just 21% of biopharma company leadership teams2

But our industry is ready to make a change:

  • 96% of male & female leaders in life sciences overwhelmingly believe their organizations need to change3
  • All 96% agree that diversity of thought will be key to navigating change4

That’s why MassBio is working on a Gender Diversity Initiative to be announced next month. We know that a robust and diverse pipeline will be crucial to maintaining the Massachusetts life sciences industry’s growth trajectory.

One of the key pieces of effort is to collect data, to set a baseline and to track our improvements.

And that’s where we need your help. Can you spend a few minutes taking our survey?

We are looking for male and female current industry employees and former industry employees to give us some insight into how you have progressed in your careers. How were you experiences interviewing and applying for jobs? What factors influenced your decisions to take a new job or a promotion? Have you been mentored by anyone?

Why should I take the survey?

The life sciences talent pool will support the industry’s continued growth and scientific progress. This study aims to address important challenges that the industry faces in recruiting, retaining and promoting as diverse pipeline of talent as possible. Your input will be invaluable in understanding which factors are important to build and sustain this pipeline of diverse talent at all levels.

Who should take the survey?

1) a professional working in the life sciences sector

3) an unemployed professional looking for a position in the life sciences

3) a professional that left the life sciences sector

Also, we are asking all companies to designate one person (an HR or operations lead) to take the survey on behalf of the company, sharing some data on retention, attrition, hiring policies, diversity initiatives, etc.

How long will it take?

Individuals – time estimated to complete the survey is 7-10 minutes.

Company – time estimated to take the survey is 20 minutes.

Will the information be anonymous?

Information provided for the survey is completely anonymized for both the individual and for the company. At the end of the survey we request your subsequent participation in a longitudinal study. Any personalized information is optional and will be treated with the strictest confidence.

Will the information I share be made publicly available?

The survey results will be analyzed and the findings published later this year. No individual responses will be published. You will be able to freely access the reported findings through MassBio.
