The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Standard [29 CFR 1910.120], stipulates requirements for emergency response operations involving releases of hazardous substances.

Employees participating in an emergency response are required to be trained based
on the duties and function they would serve in an emergency response situation.
If you are the person that will be called in the event of a spill or release
(e.g., Emergency Coordinator, Chemical Hygiene Officer, Biosafety Officer), you
should have the appropriate training to fulfill this role.

YOU SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU:

⦁ Respond to hazardous materials releases with the purpose of protecting nearby persons, property, or the environment from the effects of the release

⦁ Are involved in determining if a spill of hazardous material is considered controlled or uncontrolled

This course includes a regulatory review, discusses hazard and risk assessments, and provides spill response instruction appropriate for FROL-trained employees. Interactive exercises and scenarios allow participants to prepare for and strategize responses to potential incidents.

You’ll learn how to:

⦁ Recognize and avoid/mitigate workplace hazards

⦁ Understand the actions and limitations appropriate for a FROL-trained employee in the event of an incident

⦁ Demonstrate the knowledge and competence necessary to effectively respond to an incident

You should attend First Responder Operations Level (FROL) Training if you have never taken
HAZWOPER FROL or it has been more than 12 months since you last attended
