Overview
Aegle Therapeutics Corp is a clinical stage biotechnology company developing therapies focused on rare diseases with significant unmet medical need. Aegle’s first product, AGLE-102, is comprised of a composite of nanoparticles called extracellular vesicles (“EVs”) produced by mesenchymal stem cells. MSC-EVs carry active biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids and are known for their anti-inflammatory, immunomodulating and regenerative healing capabilities. EVs are now understood to be the mechanism of action of stem cells. Aegle is recruiting patients for its first phase 1/2a clinical trial and will initiate a second phase 1/2a clinical trial in Q4 2023. Aegle’s initial focus in on the rare pediatric disease dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa and on burns (a program funded by the DOD for military applications). Aegle’s therapy has also shown promise in treating GvHD in animal models and has the additional potential to treat a number of immune, orthopedic and ophthalmic disorders.
