BOSTON – July 31, 2023 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Boston office was selected for Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s first-ever Empowering Women Awards, which recognizes law firms in Massachusetts that have “shown a strong commitment to supporting and elevating women attorneys.” The firm was chosen for its innovative Greenberg Traurig Women’s Initiative (GTWI), which has been successful in fostering the achievements of women attorneys, further strengthening the firm’s culture, contributing to the firm’s financial health, and better serving firm clients. Greenberg Traurig is featured in the publication’s July 31 issue.

Dr. Melissa Hunter-Ensor, co-chair of the firm’s Global Patent Prosecution Group and GTWI liaison in the Boston office, said, “Greenberg Traurig’s commitment to empowering women has been central to the firm’s culture and an essential part of the firm’s lasting success. This unwavering dedication to fostering gender equality, promoting leadership, and creating a supportive environment for women is evident in the firm’s Boston office, and we are honored to be recognized as a law firm that empowers women.”

Across the firm, Greenberg Traurig actively supports women attorneys throughout their careers by providing the tools they need to successfully develop new business. Four initiatives that exemplify how GTWI promotes women at work in Boston and beyond are:

  • The Boston office has sponsored several of its women attorneys in various leadership programs throughout the Commonwealth including the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Women’s Leadership Program, the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts Women’s Leadership Initiative, and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellows and Pathfinder Program.

  • Good2Great, a business development coaching program that invests in and supports the firm’s high-potential women shareholders to grow into strong business developers, collaborators, and leaders.

  • H.E.R.E. (Hospitality and Equality Redefined through Empowerment), which draws from some of the firm’s most robust industry groups, including Hospitality, Real Estate, Food & Beverage, and Intellectual Property, to provide strategic legal counsel to established women and diverse hotel owners and operators.

  • Women’s Business Forum, an annual event which brings women together for a dynamic educational summit and networking for the firm’s women clients and contacts. Also, at this forum, GTWI presents the Diana P. Scott Integrity in Action Award, dedicated in memory of former Greenberg Traurig attorney Diana P. Scott, who was an early leader in the firm’s Women’s Initiative and a mentor to many women.

In addition, through formal and informal mentoring relationships, women attorneys in Greenberg Traurig’s Boston office receive guidance, support, and advocacy to help them navigate their legal careers and reach their full potential. The Boston office also works with like-minded organizations to address these issues on a broader scale in a variety of industries and communities.
