[Tewksbury, MA, January 23, 2025] Sterling Corporation, a leader in logistics and moving services, is proud to announce the ground breaking of a cutting-edge life sciences facility in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. The new facility will operate as the Life Science Logistics division, and will feature state-of-the-art cold and dry Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) storage, designed specifically to meet the needs of the life sciences industry. The announcement was made by Dan Markow, CEO of Sterling Corporation, who presented the plans to enthusiastic town officials.
“This new facility is a direct response to the growing demand from our clients,” said Markow. “For years, our customers have been asking us to create a facility that could store critical life sciences materials—such as vaccines, medicines, and lab samples—under the stringent conditions required for their safe handling. We are excited to bring this facility to Tewksbury and contribute to the thriving life sciences community in the greater area.”
The facility will include two types of GMP storage designed to meet the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. Dry GMP Storage will be dedicated to regulated xGMP storage for FDA-grade manufacturing materials. This area will store raw and final product materials under tight supervision, providing both short-term and long-term storage, including freight forwarding and live distribution services. Cold GMP Storage will offer temperature-controlled storage ranging from ambient temperatures to -192°C, specifically designed for cryogenic storage of lab samples, cell lines, DNA, mRNA, assay plates, clinical trial samples, and other temperature-sensitive lab materials. This area will also house client equipment hosting and offer space for shared structures.
In addition to the GMP storage areas, the facility will house Sterling Academy, a dedicated training and education space, as well as a parking area for temporary trailer storage.
As part of Sterling’s commitment to sustainability and green energy, the new facility will incorporate a solar energy capture system with a backup power station battery to ensure continued operations in the event of a power outage. This move is part of Sterling’s broader goal of creating more energy-efficient, environmentally friendly operations while maintaining the highest level of service and reliability.
Sterling’s new life sciences facility will be a key asset for the company, enabling it to serve both current clients with growing storage needs and new clients who require specialized, state-of-the-art storage solutions. The company is eager to continue building on its relationship with the town of Tewksbury as it works to develop a best-in-class facility that will set the standard for life sciences storage and transportation in the region.
