The Women in Law Empowerment Forum LLC (WILEF) confirmed
that Sidley is a WILEF 2020 U.S. and UK Gold Standard firm. WILEF Gold Standard
Certification is a prestigious acknowledgement of large law firms with
demonstrated success in advancing women lawyers to leadership roles and
postings of influence.
The firm has met the U.S. Gold Standard nine times, and the
UK Gold Standard last year (the first year of the UK Gold Standard) and this
year. Sidley is one of only five firms to meet both the U.S. and UK Gold
Standard in 2020. To obtain certification status, firms must meet stringent
objective criteria concerning the number of women named equity partners, among
the firm’s governance committee and the percentage of women partners who are
women of color. Among the criteria for U.S. and UK certification, women lawyers
must comprise at least 20% of the firm’s equity partners.
