Boston Business Journal: Mass. biotech companies report hiring trouble even amid growth

More than three-quarters of Massachusetts life sciences companies — 78% — are hiring in the next 12 months across all experience levels, according to a new report from the trade group MassBio. But while most companies report having trouble competing in the so-called talent wars, they mostly aren’t looking beyond traditional hiring methods to find candidates.

MassBio, short for the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, surveyed 129 biopharma companies for its latest report, dubbed the 2022 Massachusetts Life Sciences Workforce Analysis Report. The group has previously anticipated that the industry would grow by about 40,000 jobs between 2021 and 2024.

Now, it’s a question of where those jobs will be, plus what kinds of roles companies can expect to fill — and how.
