Last Friday, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a proposed rule to rescind the Most Favored Nation Model Interim final rule with comment period. The Most Favored Nation (MFN) Model “sought to lower prescription drug costs by paying no more for high-cost Medicare Part B drugs than the lowest price in some similar international markets.” The comment period will remain open for 60 days beginning on August 10, 2021. Additional information can be found here.

THIS WEEK

The U.S. Census Bureau is scheduled to release the first local-level results from the 2020 Census on Thursday, and host a press conference to provide analysis of the data on population change, race, ethnicity, the age 18 and over population, and housing occupancy status. Massachusetts, and every other state, will use the new data to redraw the boundaries of Congressional and state legislative districts, once available.

On Monday, the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center began accepting applications for its four capital programs: Bits to Bytes (Data Science), Novel Therapeutics Delivery (Drug Delivery), Women’s Health, and Research Infrastructure. Applications are due November 19, and more information on each of the funding programs can be found, here.
