Legislative Update: Week of December 2, 2019

LAST WEEK

Consensus over the FY2019 supplemental budget, which includes language to extend the sunset on copay assistance, has yet to be reached.  The House and Senate leaders adjourned on Wednesday for the Thanksgiving break without a resolution. One member of the six-person conference committee, Senator Vinny deMacedo resigned his Senate seat – effective Saturday 11/30 – and will be replaced by Senator Don Humason as deliberations continue.

THIS WEEK

The Senate HELP Committee will vote on the nomination of Dr. Stephen Hahn to be the Commissioner of the FDA on Tuesday.

In Massachusetts, Conference Committee deliberations continue as debate over the FY2019 supplemental budget pushes into December. Comptroller Andrew Maylor informed leadership that he will close the books on FY2019 on December 11th, whether the budget passes or not, and move all surplus funds into the “rainy day” account.
